second ✿ video/action for the Layton house

[And on the screen pops the ever so lovable Flora, standing in the kitchen of her home. She really loves not having to live at the inn anymore--it gives her full reign in the kitchen. But as a burned, scientifically-concocted breakfast sits on the table for her little family (really, the only things properly edible are the fruits in the bowl and the juice in the pitcher), today's post has nothing to do with food. In fact, it's all about treatment. And this subject is one Flora is growing to feel very strongly about.]

Good morning, everyone! I hope you're well. I apologize for being a bother, but I've got a few concerns regarding this world, actually. I know everyone's taken up the habit of battling their pokémon and I understand they're quite useful when it comes to defense against wild encounters, but... [She pauses, takes a deep breath, and:]

I truly don't think it's fair to force these little animals to fight! In fact, I think it's cruel. Someone I had spoken to earlier had suspected that we're to train them for war, and that's not right at all. Why should we make them fight for us, especially in a war with no clear meaning? They're just little animals, they shouldn't be forced to battle.

[That was hard. She looks genuinely bothered by this! But after a calm breath, she smiles back at the gear.] Instead, can't we just love and care for them? They're all quite cute. Even the dinosaurs.

Thank you for listening. I hope you all have a good day!

[And with that, she shuts off the gear. She feels better about it, in any case. But she'll stay in the kitchen a little while longer.

Meanwhile, her Gible is currently at the table, trying to steal one of the 'pancakes' she made. Too bad his stubby arms can't reach. But at least, if anyone wants to pretend they've eaten her abominable breakfast, her Gible is willing to help.

[Wow, hello adorable girl on the screen. Winry listens to every word you say. ...Wait. What? War?]

...I don't think we're training them for a war. This place is nothing like the world where I came from and there have been wars in our world's history.

[Clive hears her little speech as he's coming down for breakfast. Flora, bb...]

Flora, my dear, I'm quite certain there's going to be no war. And most Pokémon actually enjoy battling; it's a way for them to truly connect with their trainers.

Well, what else are they good for?

Mmm, not at all. [Though some evolved forms of pokemon might look a little like they were inspired by the idea...] I know something about them and this definitely doesn't have to do anything with wars.

I think we're all training them for different reasons... Except maybe those who want to challenge all the gyms, they have the same goals.

I think you have a point, but I also think we're not about to send our Pokemon to something extreme like a war. [And even if they do, they're not going alone. Takeru will be there for them every step of the way just like how he is with Patamon and they're battles against darkness.]

But that's boring. Besides, they like to fight. Unless they're useless like my stupid fish...

They enjoy fighting - it's in their nature. And we need to train them so they can defend themselves from bad forces like Team Rocket. [Too bad this noble boy is used to fighting. But he can be a member too! He doesn't like fighting wild Pokemon, for one.]

Safe's boring! I've had enough of safe. And the stupid fish just...can't. It just flops around.

Sure~! [Wait. Does she even have an answer for this question?! UMMM.] Well, think about breeders. They don't need to challenge the gyms, but I guess [HOPE!] they don't want their pokemon to do anything if the pokemon are still little babies themselves. And some pokemon want to battle even when their trainer doesn't want to challenge the gyms, they'd get bored without doing anything. And, if the pokemon likes training, it gives you something to do with them here.

It's like a sport to them, I suppose, with us trainers being their coaches. As long as all parties involved are willing to fight, I don't think it's inconsiderate at all.

Forcing them to fight is wrong. I always try and avoid wild Pokémon if I hear them getting close. Some of them really like to fight, though. Spearow's always going after whatever other Pokémon he sees.

Everyone needs to take care of animals and plants, even if they aren't ones you like.

[Cute? Say that to the big ol' Charizard who just rolled his eyes. The Hydreigon next to him lets out a soft little moan and tilts his middle head. Then there's a Servine who hisses, practicing some fighting moves in utmost defiance!

Riku, at least, manages to keep his composure, but he doesn't look particularly amused.]

It's not forcing them if they actually like to battle. Besides, you're questioning the ethics of a world that sees Pokémon battles as a sport and a major part of its culture.

More likely to make them bigger and stronger, so they won't get hurt by the wild pokemon?
